This research is an invitation to explore the interaction between bodies as a dynamic field of forces in dialogue—one we might describe as a shared, adaptive, and sensitive system—in which temporary spaces and forms, as well as shifting equilibria, are co-created in a continuous process of reorganization.
We will explore the structural principle of tensegrity and apply it to physical contact—in terms of relational quality—in order to create stability, flexibility, and responsiveness. We will practice variations in weight, tension, balance, effort, and timing to sustainably manage our own structure and our shared structure. We will refine our bodily intelligence and our ability to respond to the unpredictability of contact, navigating the boundary between autonomy and interdependence.
We will move through somatic exploration, analysis, deep listening, and dynamism. We will explore how the Axis Syllabus and somatic practice can inform and support the quality of contact in constant motion. We will navigate the realm of contact improvisation, partnering, and instant composition.
We will alternate between theory, practical application, reflection, and discussion in order to explore the complexity of the body in a structured and accessible way.
This training is for dancers, actors, artists, and researchers who wish to nurture an investigation of the body in art and performance, enriching their somatic vocabulary and movement practice. For all people even with little experience, inclined to encounter the body in terms of knowledge and research, in a safe and non-competitive group field.
Somatic orient to a multifaceted view of the body, celebrating a dialogue between art, health and life.
Yiskah is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher. She is a researcher in the fields of movement and somatic languages. For over twenty-five years, she has guided groups and individuals through artistic, performative, therapeutic, and personal growth journeys. She trained in contemporary and African dance. She has studied and worked in Italy, Europe, and Africa, and has worked in dance and theater companies, on social projects for people with disabilities, and as a street performer. She has been part of the Axis Syllabus community for sixteen years and teaches regularly in study groups. In this area of research, she explores the role that the AS can play in terms of the ethics of movement, both in everyday life and in the art of the body, and in dialogue with his artistic exploration.
She also works in the field of bio-natural disciplines as a biodynamic craniosacral therapist, a biodynamic mindfulness facilitator, a yoga instructor, and a somatic practitioner specializing in women’s integrated health. BIO complete
