Stillness in motion
Perceptual orientations for integrated movement
Dance, somatics, contact / Axis syllabus study group
Bologna
September 20, 2025
9:45 am - 2:15 pm
with Yiskah Jessica
In this workshop we will explore the feeling of having a central reference point from which to organize the movement of the body as a whole: All parts of the body cooperate in a functional dialogue, determining relationships of interdependence, continuity and coherence. On this basis, we will approach the dynamism of dance with less effort, increasing coordination and control, refining spatial orientation, balance, weight management, and the ability to receive and redistribute impacts. Some moments will be dedicated to anatomy and biomechanics, wich we will approach through the maps of axis syllabus, in particular we will investigate the concept of anatomical center and apply it to movement.
We will cultivate a perceptual quality capable of keeping us in a state of presence, attentivre listening and openness to change. From this state, a combined sense of power and ease may emerge during movement.
We will dance in solo or in contact with others, moving between somatic exploration, analysis, deep listening and dynamism. Time will be structured into moments of theory, application, reflection and sharing, in order to access the complexity of the body in a assimilable way.
Axis Syllabus, somatics, and biodynamic presence practices, nourish this research at its root, and their fruits are implicitly expressed in the dance.
This training is for dancers, actors, artists, and researchers who wish to nurture an investigation of the body in art and performance, enriching their somatic vocabulary and movement practice. For all people, even those with little experience, who wish to encounter the body in terms of knowledge and research, in a safe and non-competitive group field.
Salotto Somatico program orient to a multifaceted view of the body, celebrating a dialogue between art, health and life.
